Utah leads the nation in painkiller abuse

Utah leads the nation in painkiller abuse.  A study released by the US Department of Health and Human Services found that 6.5% of Utahns use drugs without a doctors orders. 

“If you have extra prescription drugs, you shouldn’t share them with anyone else, or leave them where somebody could take them without your knowledge, because when we are seeing these higher numbers of recreational use of prescription drugs, especially among younger people, I mean, that’s probably where they’re getting them” says UtahState epidemiologist Christy Porucznik.
